Bboy Battle: Thesis [KHCA] vs. Lancer [Calamities]

I love to give props to well made videos and well thrown events. Props to both Thesis and Lancer. Thesis is clearly on another level as far as flow and the dance as a whole, but look at Lancer! Very technically sound, seen him flub a couple footwork steps, but he rolled with it and really surprised me with how in tune with the music he was.

    Part 2 after the jump.

Bboy Discussion: R-16 As An Idea

I found myself lurking the Bboyworld forums [which is usually never a good sign that your day is going in the right direction] and I came across a fairly interesting discussion involving this Korean hosted event called R-16. Its an event that is fairly reminiscent of the Olympics and/or the World Cup.

Funk Music Documentary: Baby Charles, Sharon Jones...err & Grace Jones?

Thanks to the NRK for broadcasting this super-interesting documentary on funk music. Non-Norwegian don't fret, the majority of the documentary is in English. I love Nicole Willis and The Soul Searchers and I never knew Sharon Jones played the piano until now. Enjoy and spread the word.

You're Probably Wondering How El-P Linked Up With Justin Bieber...

Above is the now infamous song. A remix of Justin Bieber's "Baby." Its great. Enjoy it. I was going to make it the song of the day in my other blog post but this kind of deserves the back story. You know the strange thing about Twitter is actually what occasionally turns me off to the AD/HD oriented website.

Instant access to anything is a tweet away. For no reason other than the man's own amusement, famed hiphop producer El-P decided to share 'questionible advice' with The Biebs. Below is a small segment of how all of this happened. In tweet form [yuck...sickens me to even type the word]. The highlighted text are what pushes this whole thing over the edge and boom...classic remix.
Update 07-04-10 12:35 : If you'd like the actual .mp3 go here [while link is still active]: Justin Bieber - Baby [El-P Death Mix]

Let's Make Final Fantasy Interesting Again.

Because A Review Isn't Enough, The Brog Needs Another Final Fantasy Article That Hates The Many Quirks Of Final Fantasy.

Its odd to see an RPG mimic qualities that plague the superficial elements of first-person shooters. The haircuts and the zippers are unique to a Japanese development style and an accepted necessary evil. I look to Andrew Webster's article for inspiration, but my little diatribe has more to do with the state of franchises battling with creativity. The prime and unique example proposed is the recent direction the Final Fantasy series taken with its core releases over the past three generations of PlayStation consoles.

    E3 2010: What Was Missing?

Because Re-Imagined, Motion Controlled 3D Games Are The New FPS

Pre-E3 I had issues with how the show 'could' go. During E3 I tried my best to put up as much video I could find with my patented commentary -- which I'm sure you all loved. Now I'm stuck at a crossroads. I sit here elated and disgusted. Disgusted with myself for allowing my favorite hobby turn me into a kind of gaming cynic. There was nothing in the Sony and Microsoft press conferences for me. I'd even venture, had it not been for the 3DS, there would have been nothing for me in the Nintendo press conference even with the announcements of old titles being made anew.
