The Vampire's Assistant: It's Not For Children And Some Grown-Ups

John C. Reilly can paint a fence and I would watch. There is something about this guy that carries movies which would be sub-par without his touch. Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant manages to combine the 80's horror-campiness of a One Bitten and the sophistication of a Near Dark. A good majority of the movie is spent with bloated expository scenes, the few actual "Cirque Du Freak" moments are executed incredibly well, but not well enough for this movie to be palatable to everyone. The Vampire's Assistant is a movie for tweens and adults, who are willing to give a pass to most of the boring characters and their subsequent dramatic scenes.

Fatal Frame [PS2]: The Greatest Game I've Never Finished

I did not finish Fatal Frame. It was not because I was to scared. It was not because I grew bored with this game. I simply ran out of ammo. Can you believe it? I have been playing Fatal Frame for the Playstation 2 intermittently for about 2 months. Had it not been a perfect storm of user error on my part and brutal, archaic game design on developer Temco's, this positive review would [or could] be more in depth. My PS2 catalog playthrough continues.

New Left 4 Dead 2 Trailer! [Yup...Looks Like Its Infected With Awesome]

    Thanks to Joystiq

The video may contain too much plot details, so if you are that interested in the Left 4 Dead 2 narrative I would suggest getting your head checked. Thanks. Now more than ever you can totally tell that the black southern guy is 'Cutty' from the Wire. I can't NOT be siked about this game ... [which is more than I can say if I were an Austrailian fan] so I may need skeptics out there to comment on how the game looks exactly like the first one and that it is not worth paying another 60 dollars for a game that "should" be downloadible content. Yeah...still siked!

Dedicated to Nicolas Cage's [Current] Acting Career

Me and my lady have been tossing around the idea of how far the mighty Nicolas Cage has fallen. Sure Ghost Rider made a bajillion dollars and we will more than likely see Mr. Cage play with the notion of being a psychic time travaller [a la Knowing and Next fame] in future cinematic projects. In my personal and professional opinion, Nicolas Cage's magnum opus will always and forever be The Wicker Man. Watch as Cage gets stung in the eyes by bees and punch ladies in the face. Then when you think The Wicker Man has reached its zenith realize that Cage can punch ladies in the face while dressed as a bear.

    I Highly recommend...

Paranormal Activity: A Great Movie Under Certain Conditions

Paranormal Activity is a hard movie for me to review. From the onset, you will need disclaimers:

    1. If you are a fan of horror films and like the feeling of being immersed in a story, do not go and see this movie until it has a completely rid itself its middle-to-high school attendees. Advice: Go in two weeks of the posting of this review.
    2. If you are not a fan of shaky cameras or generally get motion sick, this may not be the movie for you.
    3. If you love old people, go and see Paranormal Activity on a Sunday afternoon for optimal viewing.

Seasons Beating IV: Daigo vs Justin - The Aftermath

This event was something no thread or internet streaming video could truly capture.  Even I could not capture the entire run of every tournament, but when I was at Seasons Beatings IV; I took in as much information as possible.  There were games, that up until now, I had not seen high-level play and when I did catch the classic Sanford Kelly versus Justin Wong matches; these matches went beyond my expectations. This was a wake up call. A huge wake up call to the fighting community as a whole. Street Fighter IV has indeed arrived and is a game with comparable depth to it's predecessors. There was/is resistance when talking to veteran players about Street Fighter IV [even I was and still am a naysayer], but after this tourney and this year's EVO; Street Fighter has earned its spot as one of the premiere, high-level tournament fighting games.

While I was there I took some photos, not my best day, but I tried to capture the essence.

Below Is video of the Street Fighter IV: Grand Final. Justin Wong vs. Umehara Daigo.  The Final Set [Daigo won the first]

Fat Vs. Photoshop [w/ Sarah Haskins]

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

My personal hero, Sarah Haskins appeared on Rachel Maddow's show today discussing a topic that effects us all...Big-Headism. We've all seen these types of women walking down the street, one hundred pounds and six-foot thirty. But the typically have gigantic heads. I worry for their turtlenecks and winter hats.

Oh wait...these types of women don't exist in real life?

Damn you photoshop and mass male-centric marketing!

A Wilco Show Review From A Guy Who Know's D*@k About Wilco

It probably goes without saying that I have never claimed to be a fan of Wilco. The day of their show at the Mershon Center, myself and my resident 'old school' Wilco-fan of a girlfriend, collectively forgot about the show. Guess it just goes to show you how much of a 'blip' on the radar a live Wilco show makes in our world.  With all this being said, this is where I say, "Wilco is one of the worst bands I have ever heard" or "How can anyone listen to this kind of crap?!" Although I am not a fan of 'this type' of music, I was intrigued for many reasons to go to a Wilco show. What kind of people go? What do people do at a Wilco show? What is the proper form of dress? Mind you, my only knowledge of shows of this caliber are of the funk and hiphop variety. Sure I have ventured to the occasional metal show, but nothing of this size and sophistication.
