Old news, I'm a BG&E fan. If you haven't read my review [which points out the good and the flaws] please feel free to here. Furthermore, if you haven't played Beyond Good & Evil, what the 'effing' 'H' are you waiting for? It really is a great experience and one of the main reasons why I got 'back into' gaming. However, I have been seeing the trailer above for quite some time now and I have to say ... I'm a little bit peeved. Last year I wrote that the sequel was being put on hold for reasons not revealed to the public; or me for that matter. I've emailed and sent 8 x 10's of my portrait to Ubisoft and nothing! Then I realized, this is something I actually want...
'Prototype' Gameplay Footage After The Jump
I came to the conclusion, that when it comes to books, movies and especially games I like or even love, maybe its okay that I know jack squat about them until they are in that difficult-to-remove plastic before my very eyes. This is going to be difficult seeing as I write about games and news in the industry, but when I see Pey'J's snout I guess I'll have to avert my eyes.
However, this isn't without caveats. It would be a lot easier to avoid paying attention to a game if the information about said game was consistent. Is it in development? No, well then why do I see gameplay footage and a trailer? Oh, as it turns out the game was always in development. Not only that, but they are making the game 'more accesible'. It's not the developers fault, I know, they are doing what they love and if a publisher or 'head-honcho' wants to backburner or pull the plug on their project its out of their hands. I am just asking for consistency!
According to Ubisoft America CEO, Lauren Detoc, the game coming out 'wasn't a certainty'. This was last year August when the game was reported to be put on hold. Then today, Ubisoft France CEO, Geoffrey Sardin says the game has always been in development. Truth be told, both could be correct. Beyond Good & Evil 2 could have 'always been in development' as well as 'never been slated for an official release'.
I knew times were hard for most countries and the corporations that support them, but you would think the 'company line' would improve. Maybe I was wrong?
